The TE820 is designed for businesses using high-density Asterisk applications that require high-performance digital connectivity. With its eight independently software-selectable digital telephony interfaces, supporting up to 192 channels in T1/J1 mode or 240 channels in E1 mode, the TE820B has the highest port density density available for use with Asterisk. The TE820B includes a VPMOCT256 echo cancellation module.

The TE820B supports ISTPs, including several variants of Primary Rate ISDN, and each span can be configured as either CPE or network for optimum adaptability. With the VPMOCT256 hardware echo cancellation module, the CPU is not burdened with echo cancellation, improving call quality and overall system performance.
The TE820B is fully compatible with current software applications and is completely integrated with Digium's Asterisk software. Custom application development is facilitated with the open source drivers for Digium cards, which support an application programming interface (API).
